# Tier Staking & True Yield
### How It Works
True Yield is ApeBond’s revamped yield and incentive system, designed to directly align ABOND holders with the long-term growth of the protocol.
Unlike the previous Real Yield model, True Yield is not just about earning rewards. It connects **locking commitment, earning power, Ape Tiers, and future benefits** into a single, unified system where long-term participation is clearly favored.
### Locking ABOND and veABOND Positions
To participate in True Yield, users lock their ABOND to create a **veABOND position**.
Locking ABOND:
* Removes ABOND from active circulation
* Grants veABOND, which represents commitment and earning power
* Unlocks rewards, tiers, and future benefits across the ApeBond ecosystem
Users can freely increase their locked amount at any time **without resetting their lock duration**, allowing positions to grow organically over time.
veABOND positions are transferable and easy to manage through the UI.
### Lock Durations and Multipliers
True Yield rewards commitment proportionally. The longer the lock, the higher the multiplier applied to the locked ABOND.
Available lock options:
* **6 Months**: 0.5x multiplier
* **1 Year**: 1x multiplier
* **2 Years**: 2x multiplier
* **Permalock**: 4x multiplier
Permalock creates a veABOND position with no expiry. It represents the strongest possible commitment to ApeBond and provides maximum incentives across the system.
When creating a Permalock:
* 80% of the locked ABOND is permanently burned
* 20% is allocated to the Ecosystem Fund to fuel long-term growth strategies such as Buyback & Burn Bonds
### Points, APR, and Earning Power
In True Yield, **points define your earning power**.
Points determine:
* Your share of weekly True Yield rewards
* Your effective APR
* Your Ape Tier level
* Access to future benefits such as AirBonds
Points are calculated based on:
* The amount of ABOND locked
* The lock duration multiplier
For example, the same amount of ABOND locked with Permalock earns **4x more points and 4x more APR** than a 1-year lock.
To ensure rewards favor active long-term commitment, points decay over time if a position is not re-locked. Users can enable **Autolock** to maintain their lock duration automatically.
### Reward Distribution
True Yield rewards are distributed in **USDT**, removing volatility tied to native token prices and ensuring consistent payouts.
Key mechanics:
* Rewards are distributed weekly, in epochs
* The amount allocated each week depends on protocol performance
* Rewards are distributed proportionally based on points
This directly links:\
Bond activity → Protocol performance → ABOND holder rewards
### Ape Tiers and Extra Benefits
True Yield is tightly integrated with Ape Tiers.
As users accumulate points:
* Their Ape Tier increases
* Extra Bond discounts unlock
* Access to future reward systems improves
